South Central Ambulance Service has a committed team of up to 1000 volunteers working across our service.  Volunteering ranges from patient facing opportunities to supporting the development of both SCAS and the Charity.

Community First Responders and Military Co-Responders are trained and dispatched to attend 999 medical emergency calls within their local communities.

Patient Transport Volunteers volunteer within our Patient Transport Service ensuring patients in the community are able to access hospital services and attend medical appointments providing a friendly, safe and reliable service.

We have recently introduced Patient Safety Partner Volunteers and Patient Panel Volunteers who are supporting SCAS to represent patients point of view through a number of different projects.

Finally we have dedicated Charity Volunteers who help us build awareness of the charity, attend local events and support with fundraising.

The SCAS Board agreed a five year volunteering strategy in 2021, and we are working to increase both the types and number of volunteering roles which can be offered.  to support our services.
