Volunteering for SCAS Charity
SCAS Charity is managed by a small team responsible for every aspect of the Charity’s work. As a department of SCAS, the Charity benefits from wider support from teams such as Finance, IT and Communications, but the small Charity team manages most of its everyday activity.
Our resources are limited, so we are always looking for volunteers willing to help in a variety of ways. Becoming a Charity volunteer is a flexible commitment that can work around your other activities. Hours can be agreed to suit you, with several different roles available.
Ways you can help
Charity Ambassador
Our Charity Ambassadors are a growing team of volunteers who support the Charity in the community or in our Charity Office in Thame, Oxfordshire.
The role primarily involves being available at weekends to attend fêtes, fairs and county shows, talk to the public about our work, help at supermarket engagement events or take part in bucket collections. Ambassadors may also help the Charity Office prepare for events.
We put out calls for help throughout the year and volunteers contribute where and when they can.
Lunchtime Team
Would you like to volunteer but need something flexible, or cannot commit to attending events?
Our Lunchtime Team supports us with quick and simple tasks that take no more than one hour — your lunch break. This might mean displaying posters in your area, sharing social-media posts or delivering new collection tins.
Whatever the task, it should take no longer than an hour.
Collection Tin Coordinator
Collection tins across the SCAS area generate important funds for the Charity. We need people able to give a few hours each week to find suitable locations in their community and manage those relationships.
The role includes maintaining a record of where tins have been placed, arranging collections, counting the funds and recording and banking donations.
Organise Your Own Event
We love it when people create their own event to raise funds, and it is always fantastic to see the ideas people devise.
We are here to help you develop your idea and support you with your volunteering and fundraising.
